Roche, Genentech Sue Dr. Reddy’s Over Bid to Make Generic of Valcyte

Roche Palo Alto LLC and Genentech Inc. Dec. 20, 2011, sued Indian drugmaker Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. in federal court in Delaware, accusing the company of infringing a patent on Genentech’s antiviral drug Valcyte (Roche Palo Alto LLC v. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd.).

In their complaint, Genentech and Roche Palo Alto asked the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware to declare that Dr. Reddy’s abbreviated new drug application (filed with the Food and Drug Administration) to market a generic Valcyte (valganciclovir HCl) infringes U.S. Patent No. 6,083,953 (the ‘953 patent).
