Rite Aid’s Rx Savings Program Members Sue, Allege Overbilling for Generics

A group of consumers who joined Rite Aid Corp.'s Rx Savings Program Jan. 6 sued the drugstore, alleging that the chain failed to charge members who had health insurance the price the Rx Savings Program promised they would pay for their generic drug prescriptions (Auerbach v. Rite Aid Corp.).

Instead, the suit claims insured program members frequently were overcharged for their prescription drugs because Rite Aid’s computerized billing system automatically charges insured members their insurance copayment, even if that copayment exceeds the promised Rx Savings Program price.
