Prozac Birth Defect Suit May Head to Trial

A mother whose son was born with cardiac abnormalities may try her claims against Eli Lilly & Co., alleging the drugmaker failed to warn about the risks of using the antidepressant Prozac during pregnancy (Fields v. Eli Lilly & Co., M.D. Ala., 2:13-cv-00035-WKW-WC, 7/20/15).

The lack of documentary evidence establishing that Dana Fields took Prozac doesn’t automatically entitle Lilly to summary judgment, Chief Judge W. Keith Watkins of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama said July 20.
