Leading Democrats are questioning the quality of care at health facilities that received federal family planning funding this year and said they’re concerned the Trump administration is putting “political ideology” ahead of women’s health.
Each year the government doles out funding grants to facilities that offer family planning and related preventive health services to people who are traditionally uninsured or low income. This year the government gave grants to some facilities that are staunchly anti-abortion and don’t offer contraceptives, lawmakers said April 17. The organizations include Obria Group in California and Beacon Christian Community Health Center in New York.
