Pharmacy Middlemen Group Pushes to Void Rebate Rule Start Date

Part of a rule that upends rebates within the drug industry would “wreak havoc” on contract negotiations between manufacturers and pharmacy middlemen, an industry group argued in a bid to halt the change from taking effect next year.

The Pharmaceutical Care Management Association wants the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to void the January 2022 effective date for a provision of a Trump-era rule that replaces payments to pharmacy benefit managers such that they can’t fluctuate based on the price of a drug.
