Vicodin Tops Most-Prescribed Drug Lists as Opioid Fight Moves On

Prescribing rates for opioids have been driven down in the last few years in an effort to quell overdoses and abuse, but new research shows the painkillers are still widely prescribed despite those efforts.

Hydrocodone/acetaminophen—also known as Vicodin, Lorcet, or Lortab—is the most prescribed pain medication in the country, and it was the most popular drug in 11 states from January to March this year, according to research from GoodRx.
