NIH Touts Initiatives to Grow Workforce, Increase Diversity, Manage ‘Data Tsunami’

The National Institutes of Health has announced multiple initiatives designed to help strengthen the biomedical research workforce and manage the “data tsunami.”

Responding to a charge from NIH Director Francis S. Collins, the NIH Advisory Committee to the Director (ACD) used three committee working groups on the biomedical research workforce, diversity in that workforce, and data and informatics. The ACD presented its recommendations to the director in June (11 MRLR 417, 6/20/12; 11 MRLR 415, 6/20/12).
