Mylan Inc. April 20 announced that its subsidiary, Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc., has launched generic versions of Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp.'s Famvir (famciclovir) 125 mg, 250 mg, and 500 mg tablets.
Famvir is a treatment for herpes, the Pittsburgh-based company said. According to IMS Health, famciclovir tablets has U.S. sales of approximately $196 million for the 12 months ending Dec. 31, 2010.
