Merck, Plaintiffs Reach $100 Million Accord In NuvaRing Product Liability Litigation

Merck & Co. has agreed to pay $100 million to resolve product liability claims stemming from its NuvaRing hormonal contraceptive, the company announced Feb. 7 (In re NuvaRing Prod. Liab. Litig., E.D. Mo., No. 08-1964).

The settlement is available to current plaintiffs and future claimants who allege NuvaRing caused injuries that occurred before Feb. 7, 2014.

It applies to claims pending in federal multidistrict litigation before Judge Rodney W. Sippel in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, as well as state cases, including those in New Jersey coordinated proceedings before Judge Brian Martinotti of ...
