Medicis, Nycomed End Patent Litigation After Settling Dispute Over Generic Vanos

Nycomed US Inc. and Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp. Aug. 16 settled patent infringement litigation over Nycomed’s application to make and sell generic versions of the Medicis prescription drug skin treatment Vanos (fluocinonide) (Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp. v. Nycomed US Inc.).

Judge Denise L. Cote of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York dismissed with prejudice all claims and counterclaims in the action. The companies said they had reached a licensing agreement on Vanos, but its terms were not disclosed in the dismissal order.

Vanos, a corticosteroid, is indicated to treat skin disorders including psoriasis and dermatitis. ...
