The Medicare program is seeking to increase reimbursement for outpatient services at acute care hospitals by 2.4%, or $8.1 billion, in 2026, according to a Trump administration proposal released Tuesday.
The proposed rule (RIN 0938-AV51) from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services also backs a 2.4% reimbursement bump for ambulatory surgical centers, increasing Medicare payments to these facilities by $480 million.
Medicare payments for hospital outpatient services would total $100 billion next year under the proposal.
