Medicaid Insurers’ Flawed Directories Put Maternal Care at Risk

Medicaid plans run by some of the nation’s largest insurers contained inaccurate provider networks that could limit access to maternal healthcare, federal watchdogs say.

A report released Tuesday by the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General found online directories for Medicaid managed care plans in five states run by Centene Corp., Elevance Health Inc., and Unite Health Group Inc. contained providers who were not in network, in-network providers that were missing, or providers with inaccurate contact information listed.
