Maker of NuvaRing Again Sued; Attorney Says Action Likely to Join Many Others in MDL

A Texas woman sued the makers and distributors of NuvaRing Jan. 9, alleging the contraceptive device caused a severe blood clot in her left leg (Kregel v. Organon USA Inc.).

Dawn Kregel alleged Organon USA Inc. and other defendants failed to warn physicians and the public that the NuvaRing is more likely than contraceptive pills to cause blood clots, and failed to provide proper safety information to the Food and Drug Administration.

Kregel’s suit is expected to be transferred to federal multidistrict proceedings in the Eastern District of Missouri, her attorney, Dr. Shezad Malik, told Bloomberg BNA. The ...
