Lupin Ltd. and Mylan NV have launched generic versions of Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc.'s Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo (norgestimate and ethinyl estradiol 0.18 milligram/0.025 mg, 0.215 mg/0.025 mg and 0.25 mg/0.025 mg tablets) in the U.S.
Ortho Tri-cyclen Lo is indicated for the prevention of pregnancy. The product had U.S. sales of approximately $488.6 million for the 12 months ending Sept. 30, 2015, according to the consulting firm IMS Health.
Lupin’s generic version is called Tri-Lo-Marzia.
