Lebanon Approves Deal for 2 Million Pfizer-BioNTech Doses

Lebanon’s Prime Minister Hassan Diab approved a deal for 2 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine with the country on the verge of another lockdown as cases surge.

The deal should deliver 60,000 doses in mid-February and 2 million by July. Infections jumped over the new year holiday and Lebanon is set to enter a 25-day lockdown on Thursday.

The health minister called on private hospitals to take more virus patients, with 87% of ICU beds occupied on Monday, according to World Health Organization data.

Lebanon has reported more than 192,000 cases among its 5.5 million, with 1,512 deaths. ...
