Lab Group Says It Supports House, Senate Bills Clarifying Lab Regulation

A clinical laboratory industry group sent letters July 18 to the House and the Senate praising the introduction of legislation that would provide greater regulatory flexibility for labs under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).

According to the American Clinical Laboratory Association (ACLA), the proposed Taking Essential Steps for Testing Act (TEST Act) would grant the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services “much-needed discretion” so that clinical laboratories would not have their CLIA certificates revoked for referring proficiency testing samples to other laboratories.
