Invacare Subsidiary’s Wheelchair Devices Barred From U.S.

Alber GmbH’s power-boosting devices for manual wheelchairs won’t be motoring into the U.S. anytime soon.

Germany-based Alber will have to fix manufacturing issues related to its Alber Twion Power assist devices to the FDA’s satisfaction before it can resume shipping the devices to the U.S., Alber’s parent company, Invacare Corp., said in a Sept. 20 securities filing. The Food and Drug Administration told the company in a Sept. 20 warning letter Alber must complete corrective actions to address problems uncovered during a May inspection of its plant in Albstadt, Germany.
