Insulin Users Could See Copay Cap Under Illinois Measure

Diabetics in Illinois would see copayments for insulin reduced under a bill on its way to Gov. J.B. Pritzker, who supports the measure. The Illinois Senate approved a House-amended version of the legislation, which would cap copayments for insulin at $100 per month for a 30-day supply for all patients, regardless of the how much of the drug they need.

Similar Ideas Elsewhere: Colorado legislation enacted earlier this year was a model for the Illinois proposal. Minnesota lawmakers are also working on proposals to reduce insulin prices and guarantee supplies to patients facing financial emergencies.
