Instec Inc. and Dr. Zhong Zou, the company’s owner and president, have agreed to pay $625,000 for allegedly violating the False Claims Act by not complying with the Buy American Act during the sale of products to federal agencies in Boulder, Colo., according to Department of Justice on Wednesday.
Allegedly, Zou and the company falsified the origins of goods sold to the government, conduct that would violate the BAA, said the agency. Zou and the company knew the goods they sold were actually manufactured in China, the DOJ said.
