House Republicans Eager to Shift Focus of Special Covid Panel

The House’s special subcommittee on Covid-19 will include more lawmakers and turn its focus to the origins of the virus and the US response to its spread, Republican members say.

Republicans on the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, which was first formed when the pandemic started in the US, plan to trod over familiar ground for prior GOP investigations. They want to probe whether Covid originated in a Chinese research lab rather than occurring naturally, look at US research dollars, and examine how states used pandemic funds.
