The HHS pressed pause on an Obama-era overhaul of regulations governing taxpayer-funded clinical trials and other human subjects research.
The latest development comes just two days before revisions to the human subjects regulations known as the Common Rule would have taken effect Jan. 19 (83 Fed. Reg. 2885). The new compliance and effective dates will now be July 19, 2018. It’s a move that buys the Department of Health and Human Services more time to issue a more detailed proposed rule to further delay the requirements.
