The FDA would receive $4.6 billion in funding in fiscal 2016 under a bill (S. 1800) approved July 16 by the Senate Appropriations Committee.
Overall, the FY 2016 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration & Related Agencies Appropriations bill would provide $143.8 billion in discretionary and mandatory funding for agricultural and rural development, food and drug safety, public health and nutrition programs. The funding level is $24 billion below President Barack Obama’s budget request and $3.7 billion below the FY 2015 enacted level.
