FTC Intends to ‘Not Rush’ Probe Into Pharmacy Benefit Managers

The FTC is taking a careful approach to its study into pharmacy benefit managers, one of its commissioners said Thursday as pressure builds in Congress to take action on the entities that manage prescription drug coverage.

“Everyone shares an interest in getting this done as fast as possible,” but “we also need to get it right,” Alvaro Bedoya, one of three Democrats currently serving on the Federal Trade Commission, said in remarks at the National Community Pharmacists Association’s Congressional Pharmacy Fly-In event in Alexandria, Va.
