Four sisters who alleged they developed breast cancer caused by their mother’s use of the anti-miscarriage drug diethylstilbestrol (DES) during her pregnancies Jan. 9 reached a confidential settlement with manufacturer Eli Lilly and Co. (Fecho v. Eli Lilly and Co., D. Mass., No. 11-10152).
Plaintiffs Andrea Andrews, Michele Fecho, Donna McNeely, and Francine Melnick had sought recovery for their injuries. The sisters were the first plaintiffs to go to trial in a 53-plaintiff suit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, their attorney Aaron Levine said Jan. 15.
