Two influential Democrats opposed to a ban on fetal tissue research want to see any HHS records of the meetings that led to President Donald Trump’s decision to restrict the practice.
House Oversight Chairman Elijah E. Cummings (D-Md.) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) sent a letter July 17 to Health and Human Services Secretary Alex M. Azar asking for all meeting records that pertain to the White House decision last month that effectively stops the National Institutes of Health from funding any new research using fetal tissue, reversing a practice that’s been around for decades.
