Fetal Tissue Ban Will Harm Covid Response, Stem Cell Group Warns

A recommended ban on almost all NIH funding for fetal tissue research will hamper the biomedical response to Covid-19, stem cell scientists said.

A controversial ethics board set up last year by the Department of Health and Human Services to review fetal tissue research released its first set of recommendations Tuesday, rejecting all but one proposal to use fetal tissue in research. The one project approved by the committee is to find alternatives to the research.
