FDA Warns Two Pharmacies Of Drug Compounding Violations

The Food and Drug Administration has told compounding pharmacies in Arizona and Florida that it found serious deficiencies in their practices for producing sterile drugs, according to warning letters posted Aug. 26 on the FDA’s website.

The FDA said that based on inspections, it appears that the pharmacies are producing drugs that violate the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA).

The pharmacies are Zion Rx Formulations Services LLC in Mesa, Ariz., and the Compounding Shop Inc. in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The FDA also told the pharmacies that its investigators found that they weren’t receiving valid prescriptions for individual patients ...
