The Food and Drug Administration has told compounding pharmacies in Louisiana and Florida that it found serious deficiencies in their practices for producing sterile drugs, according to warning letters posted March 18 on the FDA’s website.
The FDA said that based on inspections, it appears that the pharmacies are producing drugs that violate the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA).
The pharmacies that received the warning letters are Total Pharmacy Services Inc., based in Houma, La., and Lowlite Investments Inc., based in Orlando, Fla., and doing business as Olympia Pharmacy.
