April 8, 2013, 7:21 PM UTC

The Food and Drug Administration is seeking public comments on the implementation of its administrative detention authority for drugs, according to a notice published April 9 in the Federal Register (78 Fed. Reg. 21,085).

The Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act (FDASIA) authorized FDA to detain suspicious drug products. The agency already had the authority to detain devices and tobacco products.

FDA said it is seeking input from all relevant stakeholders before it issues regulations to implement its drug detention authority.

Submit electronic or written comments, identified by Docket No. FDA-2013-N-0365, by May 9.
