FDA Approves Staxyn for Erectile Dysfunction

June 23, 2010, 8:47 PM UTC

Bayer AG June 21 announced that the Food and Drug Administration has approved Staxyn (vardenafil HCl), a new formulation of Levitra.

Staxyn is the first erectile dysfunction medication to be approved in an orodispersible formulation, which means it disintegrates on the tongue without liquid, the German company said.

GlaxoSmithKline and Merck & Co., Bayer’s U.S. marketing partners, said they expect to make the medicine available by prescription later this year.
