The Food and Drug Administration May 25 announced that it has approved eight generic versions of GlaxoSmithKline’s Valtrex (valacyclovir hydrochloride tablets).
The following companies received approval for generic Valtrex: Aurobindo Pharma USA Inc., Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd., Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc., Matrix Laboratories Ltd., Roxane Laboratories Inc., Sandoz Inc., Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, and Watson Laboratories Inc. Watson announced its approval previously (8 PLIR 692, 5/28/10). Valtrex is indicated for the treatment of herpes virus infection.
