FDA Approves Generics of ADHD Drug Intuniv, Birth Control Pill Seasonique

The FDA recently approved generic versions of the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) drug Intuniv and the birth control pill Seasonique.

TWi Pharmaceuticals Inc. June 3 announced that the Food and Drug Administration has approved its generic version of Shire’s Intuniv (guanfacine hydrochloride) extended-release tablet.

The company said its marketing partner, Par Pharmaceuticals Inc., will launch the product in the U.S. market immediately.

The total annual sales of guanfacine HCl ER tablets in the U.S. were approximately $751 million for the 12 months ending December 2014, according to the consulting firm IMS Health.
