FDA Approves Generic Ortho-Cept

Qualitest Pharmaceuticals March 4 announced that the Food and Drug Administration has approved Emoquette (desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol) 0.15 mg/0.03 mg tablets, which is a generic version of Ortho-McNeil’s Ortho-Cept.

Emoquette is indicated for the prevention of pregnancy in women who elect to use oral contraceptives, the Huntsville, Ala.-based company said.

Qualitest is a wholly owned subsidiary of Chadds Ford, Pa.-based Endo Pharmaceuticals.
