Hawthorne, N.Y.-based Taro Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. April 18 announced that the Food and Drug Administration has approved its generic version of Aldara (imiquimod cream 5 percent).
Aldara, which is manufactured by Graceway Pharmaceuticals LLC, is a prescription pharmaceutical product used for topical treatment of actinic keratosis and external genital warts.
According to industry sources, imiquimod cream has annual sales of approximately $340 million in the United States.
