FDA Approves First Generic Versions Of Levaquin to Treat Infections in Adults

The Food and Drug Administration June 20 approved the first generic versions of Levaquin (levofloxacin) for treatment of certain infections in people who are at least 18 years old.

FDA approved the applications of 12 companies to market the antibiotic, which the agency approved in tablet, oral solution, and injectable solution dosage forms.

Levofloxacin is used to treat mild, moderate, or severe bacterial infections of the skin, sinuses, kidneys, bladder, and prostate caused by specific germs, as well as certain bacterial infections that cause bronchitis or pneumonia.
