- Chlorine dioxide fraudulently marketed as coronavirus cure
- FDA could seize products or take company to court
The “Miracle Mineral” one company fraudulently claims can treat Covid-19 can cause liver failure and fatal heart damage, the FDA warned.
The agency has warned against fraudulent treatments like chlorine dioxide before, but companies continue to make misleading claims that they’re safe and effective against a litany of diseases, including Covid-19.
Genesis 2 Church is the latest company to receive a warning from the Food and Drug Administration and the Federal Trade Commission to stop selling chlorine dioxide products, which are advertised as “Miracle Mineral Solution.”
“Chlorine dioxide products have not been shown to be safe and effective for any use, including COVID-19, but these products continue to be sold as a remedy for treating autism, cancer, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis and flu, among other conditions, despite their harmful effects,” the agency said in a statement Wednesday.
The company has 48 hours to respond or the FDA might take enforcement action, which could include seizing the products or taking them to court.
