Endo Pharmaceuticals June 20 announced that it paid approximately $2.9 billion in cash to acquire Minnetonka, Minn.-based American Medical Systems Inc. (AMS), which provides medical devices and therapies for men’s and women’s pelvic health.
“Closing on this acquisition marks another milestone in the transformation of Endo and accelerates our strategy of building a diversified healthcare company, better able to respond to the changing economics that drive the U.S. healthcare environment,” said Dave Holveck, president and chief executive officer of Endo, based in Chadds Ford, Pa.
According to Endo, acquiring AMS will offer “additional cost-effective solutions across the entire urology spectrum.” ...
