Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc. Dec. 1 announced that Ella (ulipristal acetate), a novel oral emergency contraceptive, now is available for patients by prescription in the United States.
Ella was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in August (8 PLIR 1094, 8/20/10).
Watson said the Ella launch will be phased in over the next several months and will include physician education initiatives, advocacy outreach, and educational websites for consumers.
