Elmiron Vision Damage Suits Head for New Jersey Court

Federal lawsuits against J&J unit Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc. and others alleging the bladder drug Elmiron caused vision damage will proceed in a New Jersey court, the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation said.

The litigation likely will implicate complex scientific and regulatory issues, and combining the suits will promote efficiency and prevent inconsistent rulings, the panel said Tuesday.

It agreed with a group of plaintiffs that the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey is an appropriate court for the proceedings, and assigned the multidistrict litigation to Judge Brian R. Martinotti.
