Eli Lilly Vows $1.2 Billion for Puerto Rico in Reshoring Boom

Eli Lilly & Co. joined a growing reshoring boom in Puerto Rico by vowing to spend $1.2 billion to expand and modernize its plants, representing one of the largest private-sector investments in the island’s history.

The US territory continues to benefit from Donald Trump’s nationalist economic policies by luring manufacturers keen on sidestepping a growing web of global tariffs.

In the last 10 months, companies have committed to invest about $2.1 billion and create 4,000 jobs in the US territory, according to Secretary of Economic Development and Commerce Sebastian Negron.
