EEOC Pushes Sixth Circuit to Clarify Age Bias Ruling, Again

The Sixth Circuit should clarify its reasoning in an amended opinion that tossed an older bank teller’s discrimination claim because age wasn’t the only reason for her firing, an EEOC attorney told the federal appeals court on Wednesday.

A U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit panel found in January that Melanie Pelcha, an Ohio bank teller dismissed at age 47, failed to prove that age was the “sole cause” of her termination.
