E-cigarette and tobacco companies would have to show the FDA that their sales tactics won’t hurt the public health or they could face marketing restrictions under an FDA proposed rule released Sept. 20.
The agency highlighted the proposal as “part of our ongoing oversight of e-cigarettes and other tobacco products that is critical to our public health mission and, especially, to protecting kids from the dangers of nicotine addiction and tobacco-related disease and death,” Acting FDA Commissioner Ned Sharpless said in a statement.
