Blockchain Can Speed Recalls of Unsafe Drugs, Devices, FDA Says

Pharma companies should train their staff to be ready to recall dangerous drugs and medical devices by properly tracking them, the FDA said in a new draft guidance released April 23.

Drug and device makers should code products with modern approaches such as blockchain technology, the Food and Drug Administration said. They also should have in place a plan to reduce the amount of time it takes for a recall to be put in place. The agency is seeking comments on the draft.
