Defect in Olympus Endoscope Caused Death, Suit Says

A California man’s death in 2013 was caused by a defect in a contaminated endoscope manufactured by Olympus America Inc., a California complaint alleges (Estate of Salazar v. Olympus Am., Inc., Cal. Super. Ct., BC637526, filed 10/18/16).

The family of Jesse Salazar claims he died because medical procedures exposed him to drug-resistant bacteria in the device. They say the endoscope was unclean because of internal parts difficult to disinfect after each use.
