CVS Pays $5 Million to Resolve Pharmacy Records Case

CVS Pharmacy Inc. is paying $5 million to settle allegations that nine pharmacies in California failed to keep records for controlled substances in violation of federal law.

The administrative settlement with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of California resolves violations the DEA uncovered during a 2012 investigation after CVS self-reported thefts and loss of hydrocodone at five Sacramento-area stores, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
