Cleveland Clinic Researcher Fired for Financial Ties to China

The Cleveland Clinic said Friday it fired a researcher accused of taking money from China while also receiving millions in NIH grant money.

“Cleveland Clinic takes seriously its obligations to be a good steward of the federal research funds entrusted to us,” the academic medical center said in a statement. The move comes one day after the Department of Justice announced the arrest of Qing Wang, who was charged with false claims and wire fraud related to more than $3.6 million in grant funding from the National Institutes of Health.
