Patients with compromised immune systems should still get vaccinated for Covid-19, even if they won’t respond as well to the inoculation, NIH infectious diseases chief Anthony S. Fauci said Saturday.
The U.S. government is gearing up to distribute the first batch of vaccines in the next few weeks, pending Food and Drug Administration authorization of either of two promising candidates from Moderna Inc. and Pfizer Inc./BioNTech SE. An FDA advisory panel will meet Dec. 10 to review Pfizer’s vaccine, and Operation Warp Speed officials said the rollout can start within 24 hours of an authorization.
