Boston Scientific Ordered to Pay $18.5M To Four Women in Pelvic Mesh Trial

Boston Scientific Corp. was found liable by a federal court jury for the second time this month for selling defective pelvic mesh implants, adding pressure on the device maker to settle thousands more such suits (Tyree v. Boston Scientific Corp., S.D. W.Va., 12-8633, verdict 11/20/14).

Jurors in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia awarded a total of $18.5 million, including $4 million in punitive damages, to four women who blamed the company’s devices for leaving them in constant pain.
