Bioterrorism Response Funding Bill to Get House Vote

Legislation to fund pandemic and bioterrorism response will go to the House floor after a House committee approved it July 18.

The bill (H.R. 6378) passed the House Energy and Commerce Committee by voice vote with bipartisan support. It would fund Department of Health and Human Services programs that address potential public heath emergencies.

The funding is vital for enabling the HHS to respond to infectious disease outbreaks from Zika, Ebola, and other viruses as well as bioterrorist threats like smallpox and anthrax.
