Bernie Sanders Says Biden NIH Pick Needs Plan to Cut Drug Costs

The White House needs a plan for their NIH director nominee to tackle high drug prices, or she’ll face opposition from the head of the Senate panel that must advance her nomination.

“I want specific answers,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), chair of the Senate, Health, Education and Labor Committee, said Tuesday in an interview with Bloomberg Government. “We need fundamental changes in the way we do prescription drugs in America. We’ve got to substantially lower prices and I look forward to hearing what the administration tends to do better.”
